Reduction of Mutual Coupling between Patch Elements Using Split-ring Dgs

چکیده
A defected structure etched in the metallic ground plane effectively disturbs the shield current distribution in the ground plane and thus, DGS potentially obtains wide reject-band, which meet the emerging application challenges. Microstrip patch antenna arrays are very popular for today’s wireless communication system. In this paper a new scheme is proposed to reduce the mutual coupling between two elements of a patch antenna arrays operated in 5.8 GHz. A split ring DGS cell is placed in between patch elements, which enable to reduce the surface wave and able to reduce the mutual coupling between them. This method may be adopted to reduce the overall real estate of a multi-element patch array system.

Equivalent Circuit Model for Square Ring Slot Frequency Selective Surface
An equivalent circuit model for predicting the frequency response of a square ring slot frequency selective surface (SRS-FSS) for normal incidence is described. The proposed FSS consists of an array of square patches centered within a wire grid. The presented circuit model is formed by the impedance of the wire grid that is parallel with the impedance of the patch array, also the mutual couplin...
متن کاملMutual Coupling Reduction Using Dumbbell Defected Ground Structure for Multiband Microstrip Antenna Array
A novel design of multiband microstrip antenna array with dumbbell shape defected ground structure (DGS) is presented. The DGS is inserted into the ground plane between the two elements of the antenna array in order to suppress mutual coupling. Both simulation and measurement results verified that the DGS improved the radiation properties of the antenna array. Measurement results of the DGS ant...

This paper presents a hexagonal shape defected ground structure (DGS) implemented on two element triangular patch microstrip antenna array. The radiation performance of the antenna is characterized by varying the geometry and dimension of the DGS and also by locating the DGS at specific position which were simulated. Simulation and measurement results have verified that the antenna with DGS had...
متن کاملReduction of the spatially mutual coupling between dual-polarized patch antennas using coupled metamaterial slabs
Mutual coupling inside antenna array is usually caused by two routes: signal leakage via conducting currents on the metallic background or surface wave along substrates; radio leakage received from space between antenna elements. The former one can be depressed by changing the distribution of surface currents, as reported in literatures. But when it comes to the latter one, the radiation-leakag...
متن کاملRectangular Slotted Microstrip Patch Antenna with Partially Loaded Metamaterial Ground Plane
In this paper, a rectangular slotted microstrip patch antenna with partially loaded metamaterial multiple-split ring resonator (MSRR) ground plane is presented. In unloaded condition, the rectangular slotted patch antenna resonates at 9.38 GHz. When the same antenna is loaded with MSRR in the ground plane, it resonates at lower resonant frequencies 4.60 GHz and 7.70 GHz respectively. The mutual...
